Type ichnospecies: Abeliella riccioides MÄGDEFRAU, 1937
Diagnosis: Boring system strictly dichotomously branched with entrance at the ”basis” of the system. Diameters of the tunnels 4-8 µm (RADTKE et al., 2010: p. 26).
Derivation of name: Abcdef.
Remarks: Based on the strictly dichotomous branching, MÄGDEFRAU (1937) assumed fungal origins for these traces. However, dichotomous branching also occurs in other microorganisms including microboring cyanobacteria and chlorophytes (RADTKE et al., 2010).
